I seem to remember that an E38 Charger did a 14.2 quarter mile, with 302hp, they were rockets!

They did not have sticky ties back then, when the Charger came out with 205/70s on 7" rims all the punters were deeply impressed.

And the last of the hot XU1s ( I forget their code number) weighted almost exactly 1000 kgs and had 230 hp, not slow either.

I was working in a sticker factory in my school holidays a few months before the V8 Torana got banned ( yep the first skinny thing) and for years I had an "XU-2" sticker on my bedroom window. The value of it now would be large indeed.

Yes an EVO / STi / Type R would give one a damn good run for its money, but even I have to admit that the noise and the raw power of them is kind of attractive

A mate of mine has a genuine Dodge charger...(general lee style)...with a 440cu big block.

Had to tow start it with my wee pulsar and that was a mish...but thats a story for another day.

However the sound of a BIG v8 is something that will always give me a chubby. And the sheer pulling power they have.

I mean im an import racer from waaaay back and the sheer arse to seat push of a turbo is wicked, but a v8 is something else.

My family car will be a v8...im sure of it.

Tow start a big block, it'd be a tad tricky to control a manual 440.
Hows the clutch on the pulsar?

I am very fortunate to regularly hear the sound of a GTHO

my employer has got a Phase III (genuine) which is stupidly immaculate a PhaseII which is in the process of being restored, an SA GT and to complete the Bathurst play-set a genuine Bathurst prepared XU1 Torana

it was my ex wifes pulsar and the car is deceased now.

It was a mish to tow start the big block but we did it eventually.
The clutch on the pussar was a shade stinky when we had finished tho.

Well, what do you know, I done seen another one today. This time a Phase 2, and even better this one is manual. Also a much more sought after colour. Not 100% sure on the originality of this XW, again it appears to be only a GT, not an aitch-oh. Peeked inside and noticed the dash didnt have a tacho built in, which I assumed was standard on the GT's. But possibly it was only standard for the Phase III, dunno and maybe someone can enlighten me. Other than that it looked to have all the other GT goodies externally.
