Let's put that $14.5 million in context: pedestrians and cyclists between them get less than 1% of LTNZ's budget.

Promoting walking and cycling. Yeah, right. For god's sake their annual PR budget is more than their budget for capital investment in walking and cycling projects.

Dear John

Please find attached a reply from the office of Hon Annette King, Minister
of Police.

Regards

Attached is the reply (received today, attached to the email) from Annette King.

My reply to her office:

Hi Juan,
I'm sorry, but that response was a waste of bandwidth! Your own message was roughly equivalent. Disappointing...

Wonder what he will get if found guilty? 10 hours community service?

Community service is a joke, someone here at work was saying his neighbor got 200 hours for DIC, and just for turning up on the first day he got 20 hours knocked off, then each time he does 8 hours in one stretch he gets credited with 10 hours, and that most people turn up for 2 or 3 hours every couple of weeks. FUCKERS SHOULD GET LOCKED UP!!

I hope the coppers have a water tight case, and that it gets a bit of attention in mainstream media.

Yesterday in the local Upper Hutt paper it had an article about a MTBer killed in the Mangaroa Valley in December 2006. Basically the Driver got home detention for killing the cyclist. Is it just me or is this method of killing people starting to sound like the perfect murder scenario - given our pathetic judges ?

Oh dear, if you follow this link http://www.stuff.co.nz/4788862a11.html from the above article, you will end up shaking your head. Backs up something I noticed in yesterday's suburban rag where police are saying drink driving is getting more prevalent despite all their campaigns. And of examples quoted in paper I noticed there were about ten women and three men. Maybe the men have paid attention to the marketing campaigns as they were the targets.

Call me cynical, but given the victim in this case it does seem to have taken a long time, but I suspect that they will want a result. What about the other low profile victims that have been killed this year?? We certainly don't see much media exposure on what the outcomes are there.
