Tugboat Or Vfr For 2014 Tour De France Du Concours?

Postby mfw on Tue 17/Jun/14 11:13am

Are you guys going to put us out of misery, and declare who's going to run the 2014 competition?

The Dauphiné is over, which was a thriller, and now apart from a bit of action in Suisse nothing much remains before the TDF, so we need to be thinking about our tour selections now!

However, we can't do that without knowing what the format / scoring system will be

whats the story tugboat?
we don't hear ASO saying - "we're just to busy"
you have to consider the fine traditions of our sport - you competition is one of them!!
:D

(no offence, but VFR is the tour of Bejing California to Tugboats TdF)

I know nothing about the vfr competition, haven't given it any attention so far. But if tugboat is to busy (which is a great shame, I hasten to add), then it's about time I got with the program.

Interesting feedback!

What is VFR missing/doing wrong?

absolutely nothing

except not awarding my medal :( :paranoid: :D

no seriously - nothing at all is wrong with VFR.
its just that Tugboat has a track history.
It is a bit like choosing Amgen (or whoever - you know waht I mean) to run the TDF.
It should be ASO cos its always been ASO . . . . its just the way it is. :)

If we are voting, I am torn.

I have grown up with Tugboats competition, he's always done a great job and it makes the TDF what it is for me.

Kev has done an admirable job launching the Vfrs this season, and once on top of the number crunching started adding some entertaining commentary too which was much appreciated.
My only slight disappointment with Vfrs was the lack of smack talk, not necessarily the organisers fault tho.

As someone who has run leader boards before, I can say we are lucky to have two guys willing to step up and run these competitions, it is much more time consuming than most people probably realise, even with automated software, so make sure to thank whoever runs it :D

It's soon time to grab the popcorn, and start the smack talk :satan:

If the interest is there I can always have my arm twisted. And it humbles me that what started out as a bit of fun to pass the late nights in front of the telly when we finally got live coverage on Sky has turned into something valued by so many of you. Aw shucks fellas.

But you are right. there is a lot of work I am sure (no idea really). there wasn't much engaging in dialogue or whatever its called on a forum, but maybe people are just less obsessed than others: :paranoid: :.
Not enough aggression amongst the contenders methinks - needs more 'roid rage.

I'll be more than happy with either format.
Tugboat's format is the original so I have a soft spot for it but really appreciate the effort that's involved so don't mind what gets decided.
As long as those doing the work are happy.
