We're POSTPONING today's trailbuilding till tomorrow as rain is apparently on it's way to add to this drizzle. Rain radar shows a fair bit coming down in that low.

For more details or if you intend to come tomorrow please phone us (332 7886) or PM me. Digging from 11:30 till mid arvo.

Well, a bit muddy but great weather. With another good turnout of 19 diggers and enough kids to fill a school we got another 140m of forest singletrack built

We didn't get Zane's pushed right thru as we had a bit further to dig than what I thought. Next time.

Far too wet to ride at the moment and the trails will be closed during August and September while lambing is happening on the surounding grassy spurs.

If you want to be on our notification list for the monthly dig days over there please let us know (xc@paradise.net.nz). And it's more than just digging that we need help with - also installing MTB cattlestops, installing signage, building information noticeboards etc. We have a couple of great builders on the team but are always keen for other people with skills to take the pressure off these guys.

Craig, Graham, Simon and I had a good day over at Living Springs working in the pines, fixing up track that was damaged in the recent wet weather due to a couple of sides of beef who had gotten in to the block when a tree fell over and crushed a fence.

We've still got a bit more to do in there, but the maintenance we do leaves it looking better than it did before.

Here's a couple of pictures

Looking good team. Sorry I didn't make it, had made a commitment with the GC guys to help out.Can only spread the love so far .Be a starter for the 14th though if its on

BTW: Not a dig but if there is any chance that dig days are scheduled so that they do not clash eg: GC one weekend - Living springs the next sort of thing then that would be sweet :)

We already aim not to clash with Haven and the Port Hills trackbuilding efforts and there are only so many weekends in a month. You are probably the only one who helps both us and GC so it is not an issue for most people. It's also got to work around our other committments.

Isn't it a good thing that there is so much trackbuilding on that we are getting clashes

Thanks  to all those who came over today, sacrificing a sunny opportunity to ride on the hills. We continued patching up the cattle damage in the pines and did some finishing work on The Track With No Name (the track that links The Pines to the Outdoor Camping Centre) - putting in drainage channels, back sloping and widening sections. We also began installing GeoGrid on the bridges.

Not sure when we are next going over for a full dig day, but if anyone has Friday's off we may head over on the occasional Friday so get in touch with us. We'll email our track crew once we know a date and if you'd like to be added to this list email us at xc@paradise.net.nz

We had a good session today (Labour Day). The weather was mint - it was lovely working in the shade of the trees. Dayle, Anton, Craig and Brad biked in (up Kennedy's then down from the Summit) and Gavin biked over via a different route.

As recommended by Ric Balfour (ex-IMBA trail care crew), we fine tuned several sections of Zane's today - widening, backsloping, improving drainage, providing alternative lines etc. Graham did some armouring.

The track is looking really good and was pretty dry.

Thanks for everyone for your work today (Dayle, Anton, Craig, Brad, Graham, Gavin, Dave, Paul and me). It was great getting some of those jobs ticked off.

  TODAY!!!

It's a beautiful day so if you don't have any great plans for this afternoon we'd love to see you over at Living Springs. We'll be there from 11:30am to around 3:30pm.

Today we'll be refining/improving some forest singletrack, as well as hopefully building some new track to extend what is there. Zanes is a great trail that runs down a forested spring-fed rocky gully and is a beautiful spot to work on a day like today with the water flowing, bellbirds singing...

To find us, from the foreshore road (main road to Diamond Harbour) at Allandale, drive up Bamfords Rd for 900m and park under the big macrocarpa trees on the left. Cross the road, head through the wooden gate and follow the track that heads up beside the creek till you find us. We'll be anything up to 10 minutes walk from there, depending on what time you turn up.

Had a good day today - mostly improved existing track but Tama, Gavin, Esther, Michael, Craig and I also began building the next bit of track too. I took a few photos - once I've got cleaned up I'll see if any are suitable to post.

Perfect weather for trailbuilding.

These pictures aren't great focus-wise but they give you a bit of an indication of what the track is like.

We put these rocks (foreground and background) in the track to slow people down on this section but Gavin just jumped over them so we are going to make the rocky section longer and put in some bigger rocks to slow the Gavin's of the world down.

Might have to Get Smart and start calling Tama 99. He should have arrived later. :D

We had a secret mission to Living Springs today to install the cattlestops. We had built them in May (yes, six months ago!) and had never had time to put them in place. So now that we are even busier thought it would be a good time to do it :D

Craig, Andrea, Greg and Sam did the hard work - took about 8 hours and they deserve a medal. I watched and cheered them on (my arms were already sore from trackbuilding at the Vulcaniser yesterday so didn't help much).

We are next heading over for a dig day on Saturday 13 December. If you would like to join us PM me and we'll send you the details.

Thanks to Pub Charity for funding the materials to build the cattlestops with.
