OMG, that looks soo sweet.
Must try and get organised enough to come and dig! (if you'll track someone who's never done any track building before)

We get many people who have never built track before... come along and we can help teach you how!

Actually I think there is a build on this Sunday from about 12... Get in touch with Craig and Rebekah if you are keen to come along on Sunday!!

Yay, but I've consulted the diary and I've got a family thing on on Sunday with the in-laws at lunchtime. Boo. Maybe next time.

Thanks Zane for posting that lovely wee bit of vid - I love the soundtrack - nothing but native birdsong, babbling waters and tires on trail (and the occasional rider grunt). Sweeet.

Due to last nights snowfall, we've decided to cancel today's trackbuilding session, but we wil reschedule for next Sunday.

Go build a snowman with your kids.

Thanks XCguy , pitty I did not see this thread until tonight  . I thought it would be cancelled when I went up the hill only to find the road closed. Feel way better now that you have confirmed my suspicions  . Still got out for a ride though :) . See ya next sunday ;)

Andrea and I took the two cattlestops over later this afternoon and then I did a bit of scoping of all the alternative options for the top section of Zanes.

Seeing the ice still on Dyers Pass Rd at that stage and having VERY slippery conditions (muddy and frozen snow) in the gully where Zanes is made me glad we cancelled the digging. Was super cold over there in the forest too.

Had the car and trailer sliding around a bit just on the flat in the farm park. Hopefully it'll dry out nicely before next weekend so we can get back onto extending Zane's further up the forest.

Just a head's up for tomorrow. Building more of Zane's trail at Living Springs tomorrow afternoon. Meeting at the macrocarpa lay-by 900m up Bamford's Rd at 12 noon. If you want to come and will be ariving after this then just head up Zane's trail for 10 min (walk) till you find us. This track starts 40m inside the gate across the road from the lay-by.

I spent the morning over there with Jonathan Kennett and his mate Martin, showing them the trails our great team of volunteers have created during the last couple of years.

As I was driving over there I reliased that today was the first time ever that I have headed over there just for a ride! I loved it. Zane's is coming together really well. And The Pines is such a nice climb

Wow, now we're really getting some momentum rolling  Today (15 June) we headed over for the afternoon with a team of 28 people! It was like a small army :) Thanks so much to everyone who came and helped. One more day like that and we should be out of the forest and just have a small section of grass track to cut to link into the OCC cattlestop. Then we all can ride Zanes till our heart's content.

Today was also stunning weather with 19degC (in June!!!).

We also, today, broke the 1000 volunteer hour mark for the Living Springs trailbuilding project

We are next heading over on Saturday 19 July, probably from 10 am (TBC on the email we'll send out a week before). If you're keen to lend a hand then call us on 322 7886, or email xc@paradise.net.nz for details. It's a great time to meet other local riders and to put something back into the mountainbiking scene. All tools and instruction provided. You can also bring along your bikes if you want to go for a ride. Dates of more dig days are on the calendar page of our website (see below).

More info on what we have done so far at Living Springs is on the trailbuilding page of our website (see below). This entire project is completely reliant on volunteer labour so we'd love to have you there!

Lyttelton Port Company have granted us money for signage for the Living Springs Trails. This, along with the money raised from the hillclimb series donations, will get the trail network signage off to a good start. We will begin erecting permanent signage at the park over the coming months. Thanks to Lyttelton Port Company and all the riders who have donated during our series :)

Can we beat 28 volunteers? :0

Wow! Living Springs has come a long way since myself and a few others used to ride down the sheep tracks back in the early to mid nineties!

I'll definitely look you guys up next time I'm down with my bike

Keep up the good work.

What a gorgeous day to be digging! I'll definitely be back for more, the track was brilliant. I couldn't believe how quickly the new bits shot through the forest!
