NZ Recreation in partnership with MTBNZ are running some workshops around New Zealand specifically aimed at NZ Recreation members (http://www.nzrecreation.org.nz) and local mountain bike clubs to learn about mountain biking trail building and also to establish links between clubs and local council/DoC staff.
The first is being run in the Tauranga area on May 19 and 20. Please see the attached documents for more information. Ric Balfour will be presenting about his current TECT All Terrain Park project, which has some exciting trail developments planned. Further workshops are planned for around the country, with tentative dates and locations listed below. Wellington TBC Alexandra October Timaru October Nelson December Auckland December
I for one will be interested in the Day 2 Field Trip to the TECT All Terrain Park, and to see how the course ties in with what the local MTB club have already put in to planning out there, prior to signing the Memorandum Of Understanding with the council.
Sounds like some interesting discussions will go down at Tauranga early in the week - bodes well for the Upper Hutt venue on Thursday. "Partnership" for everyone working on public land seems a bit ephemeral at times . Anyway, looking forward to hearing about trailbuilding in other places .
The Friday practical walk around can be done separately for $50, email Jude. Rumour has it the venue is WTP (Wainuiomata) . ...Where there is a lot of trail building perfection to behold, as that Butler guy said.

The impression I was given at Wednesday nights meeting was that this course (the Tauranga one) was aimed at people that aren't from Tauranga, and the Day 2 bit out at the TECT park, wont involve any digging, just walking around and considering various options.
