Top Of Mount Climie Ma!

Postby Tama on Sat 21/Apr/07 2:30pm

:pmob: After 80 minutes of sweating profusely I'm sitting at the 860 vertical metres admiring the view from the top of Mount Climie

At about a quarter of the way up I started to regret not bringing any armour - so here's hoping the descent is drama free :p

Anyway, lovely views, a bit of sun, hardly any wind, a green Bottlerocket waiting to be let off it's leash - time to drop it methinks

Don't think that you would have gone to the top of it in a PNP race (it's a pretty damned large climb to put in an XC race), but it definitely did cover part of the climb out there

Yes.

Although it is steep with a lot of off camber corners, the outside of the corners also get a build uip of gravel.

Plenty of opportunity for carnage (and brake fade) for the unwary though.

Teh slog uphill in my opinion is not made up for by the dowhill, it's all over too quickly.
It is worth it for the views though, and a good training ride.

Indeedy it ls. Sandstone, gravel and the occasional rut. Used to be a DH course back in the day. It was used for the eliminator dual-DH races run as part of the karapoti weekend back in the early to mid 90s. The fast guys would hit 90km/h into the chute at the bottom...
