I think if you genuinely compared the safety with which most people who use alcohol use alcohol, to the safety with which most people who use fireworks use fireworks, you'd find people are vastly more responsible with booze.

not my argument just my sarcastic defense of its logic.

the defense of babs' argument is that the proportion of people that use alcohol (nearly everyone/almost everyone) without doing serious damage is much higher than the perceived proportion of people who use fireworks safely and considerately (hardly anyone/people i don't identify with)

After people have lost an eye/finger/pet/house they will probably stop fireworking.

Fireworks were mildly annoying tonight while I was trying to do my uni assignment.

Ban them for everyone I reckon.

Fireworks causing a scrub fire at Miramar, no ones worrying about the trails here, another reason to ban them (or stupid people).

Not raining or windy enough to put people off tonight in wellys.

In any event, I'm sure they've all stockpiled them for my delight for the next 3 months.
