I see the problem.

If fireworks were louder she wouldn't of been asleep.

the 'fun' part is making the nitroglycerine to use as a detonator (gunpowder just isn't energetic enough), watching the brown goo form is right up there on the pucker scale

This thread is maing.

Sounds like mostly a bunch of people who grew up in a time when it was great fun to let off their fireworks, want to ban a new generation of people from doing the same because they dont like all the noise and anyway they are all shit these days.

Letting off fireworks and showing your kids how to do it, is fucking cool.

in the same vein I guess we should bring back the 6 o'clock swill, driving drunk and beating the wife up when you get home plastered - they're all 'good old fashioned fun things from back when we were kids' too

Yes, I was myself just thinking that letting off fireworks is morally equivalent to beating up your wife. :)

it's worse - beating up your wife doesn't scare every animal in the neighbourhood

But it might make your wife run through a fence so that she has to be put down. :(

Also, when we were kids Mum and Dad would get us a $10 bag of boring shit and all the neighbourhood kids would come round and we'd all sit back and Dad would let them off in about 10 minutes. Nothing like the massive boxes of stuff that can light the night sky/wake the dead they let off now.

Your parents sucked maing.

We used to have massive bonfires (with a hay Guy), the neighbourhood parents would all sorta gang up and all bring over like $50 worth of fireworks (and like $100 worth of booze  ) each. It would go on for hours. Large numbers of fireworks would be thrown directly into the fire.

Nobody ever got hurt. We had a 10l bucket of water onhand just in case we needed to put the 3m high, 5m wide inferno out in an emergency.

It was about 1000000 times better than Christmas.
