HUH, that's so weird. All my life I'd been led to believe the Halifax explosion was caused by, not 'wartime explosives', but fertilizer, ie Potassium Nitrate, and that diesel fuel oil had been leaking into during the voyage, thereby turning it into an explosive...

Equivalent to 2.9 kilotons, versus (they reckon) the Chinese explosion ~20 tons. Imagine having the 1917 explosion on film.
