OR: Think You Know Makara Peak And Karori Park?!

Postby sifter on Fri 27/Jun/08 10:55am

Round two of the Wellington Winter Series (MTBO) is this Sunday in Karori.

Register from 10am, starts 11-12. Sequence event by Andrew McLellan and John Randal. C1 and C2 will use the MTB park, C3 is a beginner course round Karori Park, C99 is a combination of C2 and C3 tailored to your abilities.

I got all worked up sifting around in the back of Karori Park scoping out places to put controls. Some interesting stuff in Makara Peak too even for those of you who know it well.

Cheap and cheerful: $20 for non-members, $10 for members, and you get to take home a lovely map of the area.

C1 is just for Open Men, and is longer with more climbing, and a few more controls. Pretty much everyone else does C2. I think that's just one trip over the top (depending on your route choice of course!!!!) ;)

Is it done as individuals or in pairs/groups? :eh:

(forgive my ignorance, sorry!)

Individuals if you're interested in Series points, but you're welcome to ride with someone. You both/all have to enter :)

St Pats forest, two or three weeks ago...

Next round at Wainui. I'm hoping to be able to ride out there. I'll probably enter even if I can't ride just for the map!

marketing is not a strongpoint, that's for sure. It's the age old problem of shoestring organisation. There's a lot of work planning the course, updating the map, etc, and typically marketing gets overlooked. I check www.mapsport.co.nz sporadically to see what's coming up.
