W00t for cleaning Beeline at Wainuiomata at lunchtime!

I've never ridden it before despite riding at Wainui a lot, being too much of a roadie wuss, but as it's in the PNP race I want to do in a week and a half I thought I'd better toughen up and give it a go. My office mate Graeme wants to do the same race and is simarly inexperienced at riding the gnarly stuff so he said he'd come with me in case one of us crashed properly, and today was the day we both had bikes at work and time for a ride.

I was slow and I rolled the jumps, but I rode it without walking, dabbing or crashing and that'll do me.

A new zig and zag on the Track heading up to the road from the velodrome - to bypass the steep bit of 4WD track. Currently all that's there is a narrow (~30cm) bench, and some pretty soft soil... Please ride with care...

Last time I was out there everything was easily roll-able, can carry a whole heap more speed if you can double the jumps though.

Yes, all nicely rollable at low speeds. It's raining a little bit out here now though, which will make things a bit slippery.

What he said

First coffee after the earthquake was on the way home from work at about 11am on saturday morning.

Have you been hiding under a doorframe too scared to go and get coffee for all this time?

first mountainbike ride since the quake. It was so good to remove myself from the world. I am in the architecture world and have been fully immersed by all the palaver.

There is no way I could have lasted this long without coffee. I had the mocka pot on the gas cooker soon after sunrise Saturday morning.

Okay so I'm an uber nerd, but I've been waiting for this for 18 months and it's going to make my life SO much easier (and my results more defensible)
