Third time is not a charm. Burn 'em. That shit riles.

Both times it was advice giving/critiquing/editing of a written work. So next time I'll just give them terrible, terrible suggestions (but hopefully in such a way that they don't get wise to it) :)

I hate bike shops accounting systems and management.

In selling my book I have had one group of repetitive offenders for non-payment of invoices. I made a sweet deal for bike shops allowing them to buy the book through me so they could sell it with a much higher margin, or to undercut bookshops, thinking it was fair. I've been repaid with seriously slack payment of invoices.
Guess what.....bike shops are off my customer list now. They can all go through the publishing company like everyone else. The price just went up, and they'll have more controlled invoicing. I can't be stuffed chasing invoices.

I won't start a name and shame campaign, but if you have a customer come into your store and "steal" all the copies without warning......don't worry, it'll probably just be the author repossessing his stock.

What do you expect from vanity publishing? Get a real book contract with good distribution and you won't have these sorts of problems.

Oh, I have that too. the publishing company have already sold a good quantity to bookshops, etc. I arranged with them to specifically be able to offer a set / better price to bike shops. Although it makes better money for me doing it this way, having to chase for payment is just a pain in the ass. I'll chalk it up to experience, which is why bike shops can go to the publishers from now on. I don't think that many will sell that way any to be honest. Wasn't 'just' vanity publishing....was vanity publishing, yes, but not just. There is a formal contract in place too. :)

My helmet straps have these two little adjustable clasps on them. Today one of them came open while I was putting my helmet on. Turns out both of the clasps were full of this thick brown oozey gunk.

Nasty :D

an old truck driver once told me to wash my helmet at least once a month, whether it needed it or not.

I think he was talking about something else though...
