if you are downtown, go over the Mairna bridge as if heading to Whangarei Heads - the park etc is a minute or two on your right. Opposite the bmx/park area is Memorial drive - ride to the parking area a the top (11 minutes if you ride, 40 if you walk slow) and you will see a gate hard right under the cell phone tower - dont go to the very top memorial place, just 100m down from that.

You are now at the top of the mountain bike trail. bomb down the road - after a down/short up, you start heading down, there is a series of jumps on your left. keep bombing down the road after a short play, and you will see a sign saying "taniwha" - this is the start of gravity tracks. Follow your nose all the way down - but be careful, some of the jumps are big.

about 1/3 the way down you get to another series of dirtjumps, either play here or keep heading down - the next section of hill has about 3 (mebbe 4 now?) choices of jump/free ride style tracks.

enjoy.
