There is no way to get to my place by road that doesn't involve a reasonably steep hill at some point.

Try one. I actually reckon that might still be too big, given that the hills to yours are long AND steep, so not ones you can really power over.

I'm thinking of building up a light-ish XC single speed over the next few months, any suggestions on frames? Was thinking an On One 456 because I like the slack geometry but its not exactly a lightweight frame.

Probably looking for more of a trail/am hardtail. Just something I can ride the flat with but not as bulky as my enduro while still being able to rail corners and mess around with it when I want to, looks like the On One 456 Summer Season 16 inch frame would be awesome actually, only 350 NZD, and with a 65.5 degree HA would be perfect for my type of riding.

Yeah I used to have a 16 inch trailstar, didn't have it very long though, had an awkward build on it.

Mostly I just need another bike so when one bike is unrideable I have another to ride, which sucks when waiting for a part that takes 5 days to arrive and nice dry weather is coming over the weekend

Will end up more than that, on one bum you hard for shipping 80US or there abouts.. (normal 456 shipped = ~410NZ)

Only just up and down the road, work got in the way of life again today. Initial feel is nice though and most importantly, the wheels didnt fold in half when i sat on it!
