Ha, when you said you had restored your diamondback, I was thinking restored as in kept as much stuff original as possible and done a restoration.

However, stripped and SS'ed it looks like a good commuter!!

Brahmas are great on the SS - mine are off a very early 90s avanti ridgerider. Found the matching grips last year in bikebarn and just had to have them.
Trying some 42mm conti pothole smoothing goodness on the rat at the mo.

How much clearance do you have with the 42 tyres?
Or have the newer frames been spaced wider in the rear stays?

They're quite skinny for a 42 - I think??
Still a bit of room all round the stays -Pic doesnt show it but chain stays have about the same clearance. I dont think the frames have changed. My wheel is reasonably well forward in the dropout too.

I run a 38c slick and think there is alittle less clearance then that.
