Yup, I always thought cheerioes and saveloys where the same thing. :paranoid:

Cheerios on toothpicks were standard kid's party fare in my yoof - with a bucket of Watties to dunk them in.

(back when dinosaurs still roamed  )

Saveloys were the dinner-sized version :D

One of the best parts of having kids - butchers/supermarket deli operators all happily hand out a cheerio or piece of luncheon to the young-uns.

one of those random age-old traditions that just keeps on giving

Feed them to a dog, then shoot the dog.

They were called "little boys" when I grew up, presumably because... penis.

And the only way to eat them was to drown them in tomato sauce.

Won't eat saveloys

Cheerios at a kids party with plenty of tomato sauce.
Hotdogs in fresh white bread with mustard and tom sauce.

Not many people can cook them too perfection, the simple thing is never to let the water boil.

Haven't had to eat savaloys since my mum stopped doing m catering and cooking.

Brussell sprouts and broad beans neither

Love my mum for lots of reasons. These aren't three of them.

I didn't understand the distinction before, so I was actually thinking of cheerios - saveloys are just weird. And train smash = tomato sauce. Birthday parties ftw.
