Thats exactly the attitude that kills cyclists on the roads every year in NZ. "oh ill pass this cyclist but if I hit him he deserves it"

No wonder cyclists are dying on our roads. When is the last time a motorist died because of a cyclist ?

Sure some courtesy appllies. If your riding two abreast and the road is narrow and a car is approaching from the rear I would drop back iinto single file.

But comments like yours do no one any favours. No won deserves to lose there life over it because a tosser like you got impatient and wanted to save himself 5 seconds.

there are idiots in cars and idiots on bikes. idiots in cars pass the idiots on bikes that ride two abreast on a narrow road, and don't move when they hear someone coming up behind them.

there's a difference between law and common sense, and for some reason some cyclists use the former as an excuse to not obey the latter. when someone mentions it on this website though, they're going to get slammed. it's unfortunate.

slowMTB wrote: Summit road - those F#%king idiot cyclists who are determined to ride two abreast - I am sure that one day I am going to collect one and they will deserve it. Works both ways you ignorant A HOLES ( you know who you are ) . And if that is not bad enough they try to race you on the way down AFTER you have caught them up because they are going so much slower - and then they get on here and complain about drivers of Vehicles , give it up tossers and play by the rules :hmmm:

Rant Over

let me guess - you're on of the shuttling morons who thinks the section of the summit rd from the kiwi to the top of vic park is your own little private race track? I'm up on that section a lot (running) and get sick of pricks who seem to need to show off how macho they are by hooning it along there - forget people riding two abreast, when a runner RUNNING ON THE GRASS TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD has to take evasive action because they're going too fast and lot leaving any space, well you know the driver is a dork

I keep wishing Erin Baker had got her proposal to lower the speed limit to the kiwi and all the way along the summit rd to 50km/h thru - that roads simply too twisty and narrow and limited in visibility for people to be trying to hit 70+ along it

so yes, if you're 'stuck' behind cyclists on that bit of road and have to wait a whole 30 seconds to get to the top - well boo bloody hoo, grow up!

Good to see I got my point across.
FYI: I am one of the patient drivers who sits behind the tossers who know you are there, carry on chatting to each other and not making any effort to give you room to safely pass. If you have ever had someone come past with the passengers window down reminding you verbally to ride single file then that was me - use your brain and not your brawn, you will live longer.

70km/hr - not a realistic speed limit up there, 50km/hr is more appropriate.

businesstime - go back to your pencil pushing. You read my reply, picked out the bits you wanted and overlooked the reply as a whole. Ever thought of politics, I hear they are looking for a replacement in Tauranga.

To anyone reading this and thinking, gee I am guilty of doing that but will not admit it :p

And yes I am a cyclist from way back and support road safety 100% but safety begins WITH YOU ;)

Well the idea of this thread is not what your wanking on about. Im not going to get into a tit for tat argument on here when all im trying to do is highlight for all cyclists the notoriously dangerous roads in Chch. Your a cock and your attitude stinks towards cyclists especially when you claim to be a cyclist. You sound like a fat wannabe with a flash MTB which prob sits in your garage gathering dust and you whinge at the sight of a two roadies who slow you down for 20 seconds while you drive up to the summit road cos your too lazy to ride uphill.

Now back to the real subject of this thread.....Haha

 - soon it will be the cars holding up the cyclists. Then the cyclists will be on here complaining that it is unsafe with all those moving chicanes :paranoid:

all a motorist sees when they're behind me heading up the hill is a blue shifted blur disappearing into the distance

hey - already true, I get sick of cars blocking the good lines heading down the hill, do you know how ANNOYING it is to sit behind some cage doing 50km/h down beneath the takahe, and then they have the CHEEK to get upset when I go up the white line between them and the oncoming traffic - don't they realise that a sub-1hr gib rock loops requires keeping it pinned all the way down :satan: :satan: :satan:

but it's such a lovely set of flowing curves down dyers pass rd beneath the takahe, it's a shame to waste all that free speed!!! Especially that fast, perfectly banked left hander by the park - it's like pretending you're a motogp rider around that one! :paranoid:

It is the road designers that need nailing down so they get a taste of the mess they are making.

Dangerous intersections: heading into town - Main South Road / Springs Road intersection - There is no room for cyclists as the road narrows at the intersection. Many more to list some time soon. Alex.
