Whats the cost to do all this?

Hmmmm, if you read the thread the summary is:

CrustyMTB, benw, michael: polluter pays (therefore consumer)
Others: Tax payer pays.

So who the 'F's going to pay for it is in fact the question, and it seems the 'lefties' are saying user / polluter pays while the rest are saying that the tax payer / state should fund it.

This is the upside down thread.

Our current transport system is systematically biased in favour of cars, rather than more sustainable alternatives: trains, buses, ferries, bicycles, and walking. In 2007, the Government spent six times more on growing the road transport network as they spent on all other alternatives. The Green Party has announced a transport policy to set right that bias and rapidly expand central government funding for cycling. Refer to: http://www.greens.org.nz/transport/package

Less money spent on roads for private transport, more money spent on public transport and cycling facilities. They're not suggesting that more money be spent on transport, they're suggesting a redistribution of the money thats already spent.

It only cost $10 to take your bike on the ferry (although it might take a while to get there)

:( Sadly despite my best efforts this still isnt nearly the most retarded post in the abomination of a thread.

CrustyMTB - hell, forget about the so-called anti smacking bill ..... I am talking about how my choices as a free thinking adult have been erroded. My ability to make an informed decision has been shat on by the cretins in government (forgive me for voting them previously) and I object to that.
Example - These new long life/low power light bulbs. Legislating so that I will not be able to use the good old incandescent light bulb is bogus. I personally can not stand the bloody things and have an opinion that the flickering will send many people to the loony bin as it is noticeable that a lot of people become agitated when working in places lit by them. Not only that, but many of us whom like to read will find the need for glasses a whole lot faster than otherwise as they are eyesight killers.
Fact? It depends on what part of the scientific community you talk to. As they say - for every argument there is a valid and appropriate counter - it just depends on which side of the fence you habitate.
There are many other examples, but I can't be bothered listing them all.

The problem we have is that politicians tend to be for the large part out for what they can get from it, dishonest, incompetant or idealists.
Red, Blue, Green, Black and any other partys color - we are screwed

Please let whoever gets in sort out the mess our voting system is in and let us have what WE the people voted for ..... a fair method of proportional representation and not the system that will allow them to remain in power aided by their cohorts no matter how freaking incompetent they are ..... that was by the way STV.

Or failing that - give us back FPP

Fark, your right, he gets that 'angry/partly confused old man ringing from the Blenheim RSA at 3PM' diatribe almost perfect.

Where's National and Labour's responses?

They should have the most resources to respond, but they haven't. Jerkoffs. Respect to the parties who bothered to reply.
