Eh whut?
We live in a country that 1) loves Dan and 2) has put Dan in charge of EVERY SINGLE THING in the NZ team... Remember that, for a few weeks, he was captain AND coach AND spokesman for the selectors AND the best bowler AND one of the top batsmen... How can you possibly accuse NZ of not believing in the guy after we've gone ahead and given him every single job going?

On another note, they need the no ball = free hit rule in tests. Liven it up a bit.

Kind of says everything that there wasn't a single comment yesterday. But after this morning now I don't know whether I should be still hoping for rain, like I have been for the last day and a half or now believing Vettori and McCullum can hang in there. And will they be more likely to hang in there if I am watching or not watching?

I find wickets fall whenever I watch. Exceptional stuff usually only happens when I'm not looking :(

I say leave 'em to it... If you pretend the cricket isn't happening then they'll both get double tonnes.... That's by the end of play today. Then put Aussie in chasing 400 to win early tomorrow. Then Tim Southee will get a quadruple hattrick in his first over and we'll win by tomorrow lunchtime.

Are you watching right now? Vetorri was bowled by Hauritz. I blame you.

No, I was not, but clearly you were. Your fault.

Did you see the groundsman get "rag-dolled" whilst trying to hold onto the covers? Bloody well launched the poor bugger!

Mucho lulz

You've summed up my concerns and not seen the problem - you put more and more burdens on the poor guy, but if you really love him, what is anyone going to do to actually HELP him?!? It reminds me of the old meatloaf song "I want you, I need you, but I'm never going to love you". On the other hand we aussies love him and want him even though we don't need him. :D

Anyway it looks like NZ will escape with a draw thanks the NZ'a substitute fielder - Mr "Wild Wellington Wind". :sneaky:

That was awesome, they had about 15 staff holding it when it ballooned up in a gust and the rest of them let it go - the one who hung on had the hugest smile, but - I think he enjoyed the ridde.

Help him how? By getting better fast bowlers? There's not many other fast bowlers impressing in domestic cricket, a few young guys starting they may be contenders in the future but need a few more seasons.

And as far as his batting goes, he averages 44 over the last 3 years so doesn't really need any help in that aspect.

No maing, if he didn't want to do what he does he could feel free to quit any of the roles and still warrant a place in the side... He's doing all the stuff he does BECAUSE HE WANTS TO DO IT maing.

Maing, you're just jealous because Aussie doesn't have an all-round classy player like him. By the end of his career he'll be widely considered one of the truly great players of all time, mostly on the basis of how he's so talented in so many areas of the game - Top level bowler, excellent batsman, great captain... Very rare for that to happen maing!

Maing? Is that a maori word? but you're right that he is a truly great and classy player and I am jealous that he is here, trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear, when if he was in Aus or RSA he could be leading a great team to world domination for a generation. I think this whole discussion has got a bit far from the starting point, which was that I said it was poor that Bond wouldn't play for his country and Vettori had to do so much on his own; everyone else seemed to think Bond should go for the money.

More on the weather - on the Skysports highlights or replay, it should that the wind was actually blowing teh big roller across the field - did anyone else see that?

NZ's population is less than one fifth that of Australia. And the amount of money you maings pump into your sports teams mean any performance other than a sporting blitzkrieg should be unacceptable to your sporting fans. You chumps should be ashamed of how often we beat you at the sports :)

Bond's doing exactly what he should be doing - Focussing on prolonging his ODI/T20 career by not playing tests. Tests are too hard on his body, so he's focussing on doing the most good for his country. If at the same time as doing that he can use his epic skillz to earn some money then good for him. He deserves that much, as he's a genuine GC, unlike all of Aussie's quicks who are just mongdurr spazztard angry grumpybums. That Bollinger durr can't even remember what the Aussie logo looks like - keeps kissing the VB logo instead - what a mong!
