A real pity this Bangladesh side is so pitiful, I was tempted to head along to the match down here.

I'm going to save my cricket-attending for Aussie. Might go to the T20, I think there's one in Wellington later this month.

It was just an excuse to skip work and drink beer in the sun really. I still might go if NZ bat first.

Bangladesh are useless (still better than any of the high school teams I was in though)

I notice some media saying its a waste of time playing them. But no-one every says the same when the All Blacks demolish Japan or Tonga (or the Lions). Is it because its ok to support developing rugby teams but not cricket? Is it the same old elitist cricket snobbishness?

I think Bangladesh will bat first. Get 180ish. 8 wicket win by NZ. Big hit out by McCullum and Taylor.

Not bad - you got the half time score (considering they were 25/5)... now let's see how acurate you are on NZ's reply  :D

[wondering if NZ bowlers feed them at the end to make sure we had half a decent target to chase...]

People always question the usefulness of the All Blacks playing minnows, and such games have become much rarer recently (no more touring All Black sides playing regional teams for example, and recent attempts to exclude the minnows from the World Cup). They tend only to play teams like Samoa as a season warm up. And what's wrong with elitism in sport? International sport is intrinsically elitist.

McCullum gone. Hmmm, given how we've dismissed them for being useless, it would be funny if we lost.

Now needing 133 off 12 overs, maybe they need to pull their fingers out or get themselves out, let Ross Taylor go in and hit another 80 off 30!

I don't think losing McCullum is any great cause for alarm - cricinfo's biopic notes that he has a rep for throwing his wicket away with reckless shots against mediocre attacks. And given his limited record of centuries, it's fair to say that the kiwis have achieved their successes with or without his contribution.

Ooh, as I write this I see Guptill striding toward the pavillion shaking his head . . .

Silly wombat had me worried for a second. I had no idea how requiring 133 off 12 could have possibly come about.
