That Noble Invention

Postby Velocipedestrian on Tue 15/Dec/15 1:14pm

The bicycle is being suggested for the Nobel Peace Prize....

Discuss.

Elizabeth West wrote:When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments. Here was a machine of precision and balance for the convenience of man. And (unlike subsequent inventions for man's convenience) the more he used it, the fitter his body became. Here, for once, was a product of man's brain that was entirely beneficial to those who used it, and of no harm or irritation to others. Progress should have stopped when man invented the bicycle.

They have been used as a weapon of war however...
I went to polytech last millennium with a guy who'd served his Swiss military service in the bicycle anti-tank brigade. He worked in Welly as a courier for a while (call sign "Yaya", from the habit of saying Ja, ja.) and found the hills puny by comparison.

I actually think it's a great idea. The bicycle has done a hell of a lot of good for mankind. Just think of the thousands it has saved from heart disease!

So long as Bumblebee man gets to collect the prize.

And the downhillers spend the million or so bucks on weed.

I vote physics due to the bicycle being the most efficient means of converting energy into motion.

Last option is misworded, should read 'Donald Trump is a scrotum'

And no kittehs......
