Phone call made, email sent, error rectifed, Team Bikesmith confrimed 3rd in category, medals being sent. WOOT!!!

We were 4th at the start of the last lap, managed to beat Avanti Plus Taupo by 6 seconds!!

I must agree, there were a few people being a bit aggressive/not calling etc, but overall I think everyone was very courteous and generally having a blast!

I think the most important thing about calling your passing manoeuvre is the fact that you need to call before you start to pass... not when you're there alongside the person. It's a bit like indicating when you're halfway between lanes on the motorway.

Did anyone think there was a lot less people there than last year?
Looking at results it seems like total numbers were down almost 20%, and solos down by 50%. Thats quite a change, I wonder if its just a temporary fluctuation caused by the recession or whatever, or if more people have just decided that this isnt one of the events to go to any more? Or is it deeper than that, people fed up with the timing issues for example.

Either way, they probably cant market it as the biggest mtb event, any more.

I thought the same thing, solo numbers were particularily low.

My thought is because Event promotion events are horribly dull.

$$$$ - too expensive for a whole lot of people. The value for money balance is slipping badly.
