His name isn't Taito people, thats an honorary samoan title given to him, you know, just like Colonel Sanders, he wasn't a Colonel, but Kentucky awards honorary titles as well... his name is Phillip Field.

Field's company, TP Field Development Limited, which owned the property, was also fined $10,000. The worker who did the work, Afano Tosoni, was fined $8500.

All three faced two charges each laid under the Building Act and entered guilty pleas at a hearing in the Manukau District Court yesterday.

Judge David Harvey also ordered Field, his company and Tosoni to pay $1017 in legal costs and $130 in court costs.

The former Mangere MP is standing trial at the High Court in Auckland on 12 bribery and corruption charges and 23 of wilfully perverting the course of justice.

Seven women and five men were empanelled to the jury after Justice Rodney Hansen warned them they would have about 12 weeks to sit on the jury.

Field faces 35 charges, 12 for corruption and bribery as a member of Parliament and 23 counts of wilfully perverting the course of justice.

Field is the first New Zealand sitting MP charged with bribery and corruption.
