after nearly 3 weeks in the tropics, got a bit of an actual ride in today, finally.

bit annoying looking down on the CLOSED Traverse track from the summit road and seeing it dry as a bone... :(

you realise your persistent whining about 'the traverse was obviously dry - why is it shut' (when people who've been up there KNOW it's still got major boggy bits) just re-inforces the image of the ignorant-twat "I'm gonna ride it even if it stuff its" mtber (further encouraging Nick to take a hard/conservative line on closures) - and more to the point encourages total morons like Wuffy (see are-the-port-hill-still-closed-t107201-240.html )

yep, i've been watching that thread with great interest. those groms are indeed dicks.

the traverse was 'dressed' in teddington shit for the sole purpose of making it an all weather track. when it is as dry as it currently is, it should be open. i have been up there, i know too, yes, it has maybe two or three short wet sections (i definitely wouldnt call them "major(ly) boggy"), all of which could be remedied with a single working bee of about 5 people (i'm more than happy to volunteer for this).

talking to the ranger the other day at the planting (not Nick, cant remember this guy's name), he had a point that if the Traverse is open and all the others are closed, then people might think all the others are open too. Thing is, the people who abide by the signs now, would be the ones who'd ride the traverse were it open and would stay off the other tracks while they're closed.

i'm happy to keep whining about the Traverse.

unlike wuffy and his kin, i remember a time when tracks were open all the time and no body cared. you stayed off them because you didnt wanna trash your bike. yeah, i know, times've changed...

if trail building days coincided with my life a bit better i'd be at them all. pesky things like kids being sick or (last sunday's) horrendous weather get in the way...

vindicated...

I think Switchy has got the message previously. At least now he's looking and not touching. I figure you're allowed to bleat a bit if you are following the rules :)
