Postby Jeff on Tue 16/Sep/08 8:59pm

The Rotorua Mountain Bike Club in association with MTBNZ are hosting a Sustainable Mountain Bike Tracks Workshop in Rotorua on Sunday Oct 5th (the day after the Whaka 100)

The workshop will be run by Ric Balfour manager of the TECT All-Terrain Park, a qualified Forest Ranger (NZFS) and recently returned from 20 years working in parks and for the International Mountain Bike Association in the USA. It will cover the following:

• Best Track Design Principles & Construction Standards,
• Maintenance & Monitoring
• Track design and equipment session (trail tools, diggers, power equipment)

This is the second of these workshops, the first of which Iattended in Christchurch on Monday, the report is on Vorb

the $40pp workshop cost will be paid by RMTBC for the following people:

1 RMTBC current paid contractors – James Dodds and Murray Avery
2 Existing Trail Builders and Adoptees in Whaka Forest
3 Rhys Cleverly & Red McHale (working Bees & PD)
4 RMTBC Club members showing an interest in trail building

If the course is not filled from this group (and so far it's not full) we will take any members of the public. If there is demand for a further course, I will discuss with Ric and schedule another one for later in the year, so if you can’t make it because of timing issues, please respond to indicate your interest. Also if you have friends that are helping with your trail adoption, but aren’t on the official list, please pass this on to them.
