Run all sorts of tyres on my stans rims with no problems (some none USt tyres take a lot of time to seal though) have never realy had a puncture and dont top up the latex very often the only downside is i have found is its a complete pain to get the tyre off as the latex has sealed itsself to the rim, so not the ideal quick fix in a race situation.

I've run Nevegals and Continental tyres (non UST) as well as Stans tyres - all with sealant and yellow tape. sometimes a bit of faffing about to get them sealed, but all good after a few days. Much less hassle with the rubber rim strip, apparently.

IF you have the rim strip in and you do get a puncture - i have NEVER had the sealant succesfully seal a hole then you have to take this gungy rim strip out and put it somewhere so you can get the god old tubre in - if you are racing its better to try to use the yellow rim tape ( a few wrappings of insulation tape works just as well)

The sealant IMHO is more to seal lightweight non ust tyres which leak air through the sidewalls, than to actually seal punctures, it may seal small ones but nothing larger than 2-3mm I reckon.

Pro tip from Cabin is to stick glitter in with the sealant which should enable better sealing in the event of a puncture.

Nah, glitter aint that flash at sealing up the holes (I have tried it). You need something with longer more fibrous strings, and then little plugging pieces of rubber to go in between. Some of the off the shelf sealants have this stuff... others dont.

My home brew mix tends to seal decent sidewall garks for my tyres...

Has any one used the Schwalbe Muddy Mary's with the SnakeSkin side walls?

I have found the side walls to be very air tight on the non UST tyres (single ply, folding bead, claimed 850g) with a tubeless set-up. Zero bubbling of tyre sealant through the side walls.
You still require tyre sealant to seal along the bead.

I have been running Stans for the last 7 odd years. Always on non-UST tyres. Originally on the Mavic 317's that came with the bike but lately on Stans rims. I've always run Stans sealant in them although often it has dried by the time the tyre gets taken off next. In terms of punctures? All I can say is that punctures are very rare for me, especially when compared with guys I ride with who are running tubes (mind you some of them are quite a bit bigger too). I have occasionally seen the goo do its thing successfully when I have punctured including a couple of good sized tears in the side wall, however I suspect that there are many occasions when I don't know the puncture has happened and it just does its stuff. The goo also seals the bead/rim junction after the tyre has been on there for a time. Yep I'm a Stan's fan :)

I haven't tried the muddy mary, but I've been running a nobby nic for a year with no problems. The first time I put it on it was a bit of a mess with latex going everywhere, but once I sorted out the proper technique it's been sweet.

The Joes no flats is superior, I reckon - heaps better sealing, less hassle, but needs more mixing / shaking before putting in.

I have only used Geax & Stan's, and can be a messy if you get it wrong (usually the 1st time doing it). I now insert the sealant via the valve stem once the tyre bead has been fully seated (popped) on the rim.

So how is Joe's less hassle?

Larger content / size of latex particles means it seals sidewalls better, so you can pump tyre up once, spin a lot and it'll do a better job than stans of sealing tyre.

With stan's and many tyres you have to keep pumping up and adding a bit of latex (and spinning etc) over a day or 2, or ,more, so get a tyre that won't bleed air until it's flat.
