Postby XCwife on Wed 16/May/07 1:14pm

Just 4 months till the next edition of the R&R Sport Vulcaniser - also the final round of the all new South Island XC Cup Series!

This year the event is being run by an enthusiastic group from the McQueen's Valley
Mountainbike Club.

It's going to be great - 19-20 January - mark your diary now!

Entry forms for the Vulcaniser can be obtained from this site
http://www.mountainbike.orcon.net.nz

From the BikeNZ Website:

The rider popular Vulcaniser course will again be the host for this event, and in a multi-lap format at Mt Vulcan Station. Hilly, open paddocks, grassy slopes, native gulleys and valleys and technical singletrack, this venue has it all. Not much opportunity to rest is a hallmark of the Vulcaniser course with the sudden switches from climbing to descending.

Location: Reeces Rd off SH1 at Omihi

It's about 90 minutes north of Christchurch

It's a 5 km lap, give or take.

The races start in the afternoon to allow people to practice and get there

The organising committee had a good planning meeting last night to finalise lots of details and we will be updating the Vulcaniser page of our website over the next few days.

Also look out for today's big announcement... :0

Yeah, the 19-39 age groups in expert men will race with the guns. And, yes, fewer laps (5 instead of 6). Except those with leftys - they have to do 13 laps.
