I was thinking that route, more or less

actually closest simulation of vulcaniser is up old bowenvale to where the singletrack ends, then back down and repeat, and repeat, and repeat :0

three guesses what I'll be doing after work :(

Really? After riding the course on Saturday, I'd say that's a little extreme. But then again, you are a mad bastard

Juangear has got it about it  Razzing frazzing tight steep switchbacks :hmmm:

the singletracky bit of old bowenvale isn't that bad (well apart from that one big set of stairs) - all the real pain and suffering is on the wide 4wd bit above there :(

you mean you're sprinting up the steep short bit from the 40' besides dazzas direct to the jumps area (as opposed to the long way around)

eeek!

I'm glad to hear someone say that cos I was thinking that at the rate the boys were making comments everyone who was looking at coming up for the open day was going to be put off!

I must admit my comments are based on my incredibly stupid experience on the course for 2006 nats round - all the climbs felt like everest that day (something to do with doing an out-back on the crater rim course the day before - hadn't intended to race but got talked into it that night - doh!).

and the course itself has changed quite a bit since then too

Sure the grass climbs will take it out of you, but I'd almost say that its a "brains more than brawn" course 'specially through Slimline (rocks ahoy!) and with some of those nasty wee tight steep switchback climbs.

A very cool course, even from an unfit muppets point of view
