Calendar Event: January 19, 2008 - January 20, 2008

Postby XCguy on Mon 21/Jan/08 12:38pm

I wanted to say on here that we were SOOOOOOO appreciative of the help that Becs and Scolly gave us last night after everyone else had left. We didn't leave the course till after 8 and the two of them helped pack up the mountain of gear and finish demarking etc, and also took a heap of stuff home for us (which is just as well cos the trailer and our car were full so it saved us another trip out there to get that stuff today). You guys are awesome. Even little Bradley helped by being such an awesome placid happy little baby and letting his folks carry on working away.

As I said earlier we had an amazing team of helpers this year. Having a huge team of people help us for the whole weekend was just fantastic. This event requires heaps of work as there are no facilities at all there so there are loads of toilets, marquees, water containers and all sorts of stuff that all needs to be brought in. The event would not have been what it was if it was not for all the many hours that all these guys put in. So big thumbs up to you all! See, right there, big thumbs up =}

If I sprint off the line, I too blow up spectaculary, check out my 27+minute last two laps.....if there is one thing I'm crap at in XC mtb racing, it's learning to start slow. I just seem to have to natural reaction to lead the field.....but I think I've been racing so long now, that everybody expects me to do it and they not worried.

Yeah, Shailer liked that old steep sheep track section too. I have no idea why. You guys are just odd

I remember going up lovers lane/dodgy bit on the last lap thinking "Oh no, my legs are giving out, I thought I was riding really conservatively and taking it easy?" - guess who got to the steep bit before Boars Nest and discvored he'd left it in the middle ring the whole way so had inadvertently gone up to race pace

it's ok clarky - one day you'll be as old and doddery as me

because it hurt! espec the nasty little turn left at the top onto the 4wd section!

in a race/strategy sense - it wore people down nicely so you could attack up the 4wd befoe getting in to Boars nest

I reckon you should make it 5 laps next year - 4 is just a tad short :satan:

The U19's were wanting more laps (before they raced - it would be interesting to hear their feedback after the race). Because the Sport Class was taken out we made a compromise so that stepping up wouldn't be so daunting for those who would usually ride in Sport Class.

Sport Class will be back next year for the SI Cup, but I doubt we'll have another "national" event at the Vulcaniser. ...though we said that last time too.
