Postby BUSHLOVERACING on Sun 8/Feb/09 10:13am

The R&R SPORT Hawkins Hill Climb Challenge (Run/Road/MTB)

The 2009 edition of the Wellington classic IS NOW RUNNING ON THE 7TH JUNE.

This is a fantastic event which pits runners, mountainbikers and roadies against each other in a race to the top of Hawkins Hill. Starting from Owhiro Bay, all codes head up the road where the runners and mtb'ers tackle the infamous Tip Track and the roadies continue to up the road and gain the summit via Ashton Fitchett Drive.

This event always attracts wide range of competitors, from Elite riders to casual rec' bikers. All looking for a good morning out and a chance to lay down a new personal best, or just make it to the top!

Further information and past results can be found on the PNP Club website (currently 08 event info).

For a long thread discussion of the Tip Track climb, click here.

Thanks to R&R Sport for lending their generous support to this magnificent event.

See you all there.

Greetings from Sparta

There has been a date change for the Hawkin's Hillclimb Challenge.

It will now run on Sunday the 24th May.

Get it in the diary. Winter doesn't have to mean slacking.

Faaark! Why did they have to shift the date? I was smugly thinking that I would be sunning myself on a beach in Penang on the 15th but now it is on the day after I get home. I'll have to come along at put myself through the pain if it's a nice day despite not having been on a bike for the couple of weeks beforehand :(

Fuck that, it's 2 days before my birthday, it'll seriously hamper my drinking

Downhillwiss, won't need an entry form, you will be able to enter on the day

The top post is modified to offer the Official Entry details and the Entry Form.

Rock on up to support great causes and have a cracking morning out smashing yourself. Better than staying in and beating yourself.

Don't start with that rubbish. You make me so angry.

I too will roll the SS. Will carry a jousting pole to give you the good news if I see you reaching for a stopwatch as you pass either gate.

Since I discovered that gate to gate meant the second gate up, and not the big gate next to the tarmac, I have not been able to sleep properly and am permanently angry with everyone. Except of course, those who record seal to seal time.

FWIW - Nicko blows wild goats.

Sweet. I'm off the hook, having no recorded time. I reckon if the wind was right I'd smash out a 25:00

I might run it this year anyway.

Your dreaming if you think you could muster a 25min. You could barely do that riding down it
