Scary stuff - it gathers info about you from the internets (social networking sites, blogs, websites - including Vorb) through a simple search :blink:

(Try searching by your email address instead of your name).

Apparently, you can "de-list" your profile from Spokeo by clicking on the "privacy" link at the bottom of the page.

I don't get it - I search for myself, but can't see the results without paying? Hard to know how awesome their information is without seeing the results.

When I searched by my name, I came up with nothing, but found quite a bit when I searched by my hotmail addy.

Ok so I hadn't read the results properly. I apparently sold some stuff on Vorb aaaaaaages ago, and did also looked for someone to swap as a volunteer at a PNP race aaaaaages ago.
And they somehow know I live in Welly. And that my email address is valid. Go figure.
But yah, the email ------> Vorb connection is a bit freaky.

Sweet jebus, tried my gmail (which I use for youtube and vimeo accounts), and it finds its way back to Vorb through those as well!
I guess those sites have the ability to tell you where your videos are linked from, so it's tapping into that :blink:

I live in Auckland according to that one...

im confused. I see all the basic info that it has on me, but cant see the full report without paying. all its got on me is my name, email addy and that i live in chch.

Depending on what it costs (didn't click through to find out), that will quite a useful tool for employers to vet prospective employees. What do they get upto etc. Definitely big brotherish.

It knows my email is valid and I am from NZ - nothing more. not really impressed to tell the truth. Didnt even know my name when i use my email addy. Couldn't find me using my name, and using all of my emails it couldn't find my real name, or tell anything more than my emails are genuine and i come from somewhere in NZ.

what are the rest of you seeing that is so worrying?
