For Conservation week we have lined up a special working bee with the Scouts and Hutt City Council to plant parts of the area at the end of Waiu St and to build a new start to Jungle Gym. This is part of the work to create a formal entry area for the park.

Unlike ordinary working bees this one will be on Sunday from 10:00am to 2:00pm meeting at the entrance at the end of Waui St, Wainuiomata. Tools will provided and there will be a Sausage sizzle on site. We do recommend you bring some gloves and something to drink.

What a lovely morning this morning

Should even by nice and warm by 10am so hope to see you at Waiu St

A big thank you to those that turned up and to those that stopped by to have a chat as rest breaks are just as important as doing the work!

With the help of the scouts not only did we get over 100m of track cleared, cut and graveled but we got a boundary line of the Waiu St entrance planted, which is part of the first stage of getting a formal entrance to the park. So a big thank you to the Hutt Valley scouts.

A big thank you also goes to the Hutt City Council for providing the supplies and performing much of the organising for the day.

I must also thank Makara peak Supporters for leading us a few extra tools. Those fire rakes are a powerful weapon, must look at getting a few of our own!

We will be organising a few working bees some time after the PNP race has been to finish the new track, so stay tuned.
