Sore Calf Muscles

Postby danburger on Mon 3/May/10 9:14pm

Been ride for a couple of years but the last month my calfes have become sore. Haven't changed anything such as training, bikes etc so am a bit lost to why. Any ideas.

Magnesium. If you eat shellfish it will go away.

Ummm Calf mussels? Foreshore and seabed?

Did you change shoes, pedals or position of the cleats on the pedals? Moving the cleats back a little from the ball of the foot (up to 1 cm behind the ball) can help?

after each ride soak them in a mixture of lemon juice or vinegar, white wine, oil, salt and pepper. a little sweet chilli often helps

Remove them from the shell and shave them…then add some of the list above. ;)

If you follow this advice make sure you lower your seat a few mm to compensate for the extended reach for your legs/feet.

I won't take the pish out of you danburger, but you could get betterer advice if moar detail on the soreness and edit the title spelling

like nageM hinted, could be diet if it's cramp from a regular effort ride, or take a look at riding style, heels down pedal action equals moar power and less work put on calves.

Specific stretches may help too and possibly rubbing on say Metsal (my fav.) before a ride might ease some pain.
