Just wondering about the entry and exit points to skippers, how far in off coronet rd is the start of track, or is there a dh track that starts off from the coro-skippers turn off? Cheers.

Skippers Saddle, just off the Coronet Peak road, about two-thirds/three-quarters of the way to the skifield. Head left to the saddle (about .5km to 1km away), park your car, if you're driving, then take a sharp right onto the Pack Track (I think)-- it's not really a down-hill trail as such, just a steepish track that goes for a long way (ie cuts out a lot of winding dusty gravel road) down to the Shotover Gorge. It'd be a bit of a grind to bike back up (we took the road instead and chanced the rafting crews) but it was good fun to go down. Well worth the effort -- it's spectacular scenery and the Skippers Village at the end (of the actual road) is really interesting. Also lots of places to go beyond ...
