pffffffft!! only if your a pansy who cant handle hills. i climb quicker without gears. he just needs to ask the other single speeders where he lives about what gear ratio they find best for the area. anyway all this is irrelevant because he has probably made his decision now considering people keep posting on this despite how old it is haha :) .

i also hav a stp and i hav gears and sinsle speed so i can alternate but i find the single speed is way better cuz is lighter, duznt trip gaers, dont hav to worrie about damaging a derraliter, you dont hav to worrie bout breaking shifters and its alround smother to ride

DAMMIT SOLDIER!
get it straight. truactiv hammerschmidt on the front, single speed out back.
you have a high gear ratio, and in a second a low gear ratio for the climbs.
(that is if you have a spare 700$ for a crankset off trademe...)
