I was lucky with the weather this morning. Headed out around 7.30 and just beat the rain back to the office. There was a definite bite to the air and I could see the front making it's way north during my ride (around the bays and back for a 90 minute spin).

Unfortunately I just went outside to get some lunch - jeepers it's icy out there now!!!

I thought that was you heading along Cobham Drive this morning as I headed in to pick up John, good timing for you with the weather :-).

BTW John, I am nice and warm now, the benefits of working from home! (plenty of food, shower time and control over the heating!). I'll send warm thoughts your way, although you still have to get home so don't warm up too much, it will only be disappointing when you have to head out again. :(

The only thing I've ever damaged in a microwave was some synthetic gloves. So long as they have plenty of natural fibres in them and you don't let them get too hot they'll likely be OK

I am going to go with no - apart from the chamois they are synthetic so you might melt them.

But if you do decide to do it, take them off first.

I'd suggest as an alternative putting them in hot water and then climbing into them, mmmmm toasty, and much more comfortable than using, er, internal plumbing to heat them :paranoid:

Time's up! I think I'm going to have to harden up, and put them on cold. Either that, or go soak them in hot water in the kitchen for a bit :D :satan:

Just had a lovely ride with Joel around the Makara loop. There's a super-muddy 100m or so just after the Makara Beach turn off which is going to necessitate a bit of bike washing, but apart from that it was lovely. Not too chilly, great conversation, and good times :) Cheers Joel

Had a mixed ride today around the bays. The southerly was hard work, and I paid after the hills with Joel yesterday, a pretty useless dinner last night (pub nibbles), and working way too hard through to Worser Bay. Stopped at the bottom of Happy Valley for a feed, waved to Kah and his mates a few clicks up the road, then downed 2/3 of a packet of Macaroons and a couple of cups of tea at Oli's. Legs felt fantastic on the short ride back to town though, so I'm going to write it off as a fuel issue. At least my feet were toasty warm today with my new booties :)

Have had only a few rides since 14 July! WTF?! Anyway, after three rounds of the PNP Balfour-Pennington Series, and an ill-advised promise to wax my legs if I won, I now have a 2:15 appointment. I've had some wonderful recommendations from friends, including Panadol, morphine, tequila shots, and this warning:

Enjoy it, but not too much

I'm taking my phone, and if I maintain consciousness, I'll endeavour to take photos...
