Karapoti story up =} http://sifter-writes-bikes.blogspot.com/

Was nice to get out on the road bike a couple of times this week. Had my legs torn off by Joel yesterday - the man's in very fine form at the moment.

Oh hurro!

Just had a wee flick through this old chestnut. What a neat little diary - great to be able to check out what I was up to last year...

It looks like I did a weekly night ride through June, some orienteering and a few bays rides in July and August, and a few short races. Akas loop from Haywards in late August and 4x up Mt Vic in early September, carrying on to 10 later in the year. I was 90.4kg on 16 September.

I've got some catching up to do. I've been back at work for 3 weeks after an 8 month stint at the Reserve Bank. I've ridden little since the Kiwi Brevet in February, and, it turns out I'm FAT! Tried to buy some jeans today, but no go. I'm sitting at around 94kg, which is a lot more than last year! That said, I'm within sight of 91kg in three weeks time, if I can get myself organised. Last year I shed almost 1kg/week from 91ish to 85ish. Time to constantly feel like I'm starving again...

I've a few things on the list:
From 3 to 12 ascents of Mt Vic, increasing 1 or 2 per week. STARTING THIS WEEK!
6 November: MTB Rogaine in Rotorua =} http://www.maptalk.co.nz/events/event.cfm?e=2870
20-21 November: Tim Mulliner's Le Petite Brevet =} http://lepetitebrevet.blogspot.com
4-7 February: Whanganui 4-Day Brevet, Yay. Details TBC, but tentatively compulsory overnight stops in National Park, Whangamomona, Patea. Start/Finish Whanganui, approx 750km
12-13 March 2011: Cyclic Saga.

Plenty of weekends to fill up with interesting rides. Whanganui area to explore in advance of the Brevet there. I loved the weekend away in the Wairarapa last year, and will aim to do something like that again. Also, a Palmerston North, (179km) to Napier, (155km) to Taihape, (102km) to Palmerston North (with detours off the main road on the north/south legs to add distance and solitude) tour has a lot of appeal... An insanely long ride would be cool too!

Watch this space! And, thanks for watching this space. It helps me to know you're out there...

Nice program. The 1Kg a week will be a nice effort. I think I need to do the same.
