Postby scoobydoo on Thu 3/May/07 9:37pm

68.5 head angle with 4" fork
A couple broke

Just about, but possibly built around a longer fork (axle to crown) and fractionally larger sizing wise, as I suspect that the probable use would be differnt than it was when the first batches were developed

ie there is now so many jump bikes (and the geo of the jump bike is now very differnt), both in cr-mo and alluminium alloys, but a lack of good alrounder play bikes, that the slacker has proven to be a great example of, over the longer term

but that is only my humble $0.10

and wow only 100 frames total

I've owned 2 (although one not for very long  )

and thinking about the number that are on this thread alone, I honestly thought there would have been the 200 that others had said

Nine of us went bush for five hours in the week-end.

1 Slacker
2 Cotic's
1 DMR
1 Stealth

and some other bikes.

Steel hardtails are the new black.

Nice one

steel hardtails are "black" always there, always cool and simple and very functional despite the excesses of briht colours or dual suspensio, you can always relay on a good steel hardtail, hence why I own 2

Theres a lot of people realising that steel is mother fucking real man!!

Scooby, slightly larger frames and that would be mint, and as PBR said, based around a 5 inch fork. And don't bother with slotted cable guides. Put in zip tie ones, cool kids run full length cable anyways

A replaceable mech hanger and a more common seatpost size would also be handy :)

Common seat post size , yes would be great,

replaceable hanger, maybe, it would really depend on the unit as if it is anything like most of the steel frmes out there with replacable hangers , they are crap (think DMR, Keewee stealth (Ok dabomb CR8) where as how many people auctually write off hangers on steel bikes??, if you strip the threads you can always use a wheels manufacturing drop out saver kit, and if you tweak the hanger being steel it will bend carfeully back, where as replaceble hangers are the bain of there owners life

I believe its "Once you've had Matt, you never go back" ;)

I had a steel hardtail, lasted for eight years (its still going strong, i gave it a new home).

The only advantage I can think of is that I could re-weld it.

It just sort of scares me a little bit :paranoid: , although I see what you mean about the other hangers being crap, I've stuffed a fair few d8 ones.

Just a bit worried about me totally choding the hanger then having to run a saint/hone or something similar. :)

Going to have a google about the wheels manufacturing stuff now

If you totally root the hanger, you get on the phone book a time with jeff from kiwibikes , will be less than $150 I would have thought, fixed (ie sweat old hanger out, insert new one, the joy of steel)

and when you think about it, thats less than the price of 3 trailstar hangers at RRP ;)
