Shoe Selection

Postby New Zealand Running on Wed 29/Jul/09 1:47pm

Howdy

Would be interested to know what sorts of shoes people are wearing to do either the Kepler Challenge or the Luxmore Grunt. A lot of what I read says that it can be very wet and slippery, if it is am I best to get trail shoes?

Cheers

If I was doing it (one day I'll get there  ), I reckon I'd be going for a trail shoe with some aggressive grip on it......the Mizuno Ascend is the first one that springs to my mind.

I wish your knees the very very best for the descent down to Iris Burn! :D

I'm sure lots of people have done it in road shoes - but you NEED some inov8 x-talon 212s - more grip than any other trail shoe I've used, and lighter than most road shoes  I've been absolutely loving running in mine (espec in greasy canterbury clay)

nice shoes (I love my wildwoods in summer) but not really that agressive - current trend from most of the big names in trail shoes is fast/non-agressive soles :( Which is all well and good 'til you're trully off-road (and not on a nicely maintained track)

My left foot hurts. I don't want to run anymore.

generally we let thread go a page before we shit all over it, good netiquette.

but now that you've started....

are you left footed?

which foot do you preferntially lead with up steps - for me it's right (so I'm right-footed - which is odd cos I'm left handed)

Judging from my test I just undertook in my flat floored office I am most likely to be a lefty.
