Share The Road

A one-fingered salute to the twit driving a navy-blue Toyota SUV (probably a Highlander, or a recent model RAV4, but not the two-tone RAV4 that was parked at the Vic Park top car park) shuttling a load of bikes up Dyers Pass Rd at around 3.15pm today. We (two of us) were riding single file, keeping as far left as possible on a very narrow, but intermittently busy stretch of road about a corner or two from the last straight up to the Sign of the Kiwi when you winged it past us about 20cm from our elbows, as you crossed the centre line (our lane was very narrow at that point), forcing oncoming cars (2 or 3 of them) into the gravel verge on the other side to avoid you. You needed only wait another three seconds to pass us safely. Bloody hell, we have come to expect this sort of retarded driving from some parts of Christchurch "society" but not people who ride bikes themselves (or whose kids ride them). You know who you are, and maybe some others do too now. Learn to drive, or ride your bikes instead. Whinge over.
