cyclingnews article on hammer lawsuit wrote:However, company owner Brian Frank did reveal his feelings on the matter to Triathlete Magazine saying, "We have hundreds, if not thousands of athletes that take our products. The fact that three used them and got caught up in false positives for nornadrostendione is a stretch. The suit has been filed in Orange County, and we'll be defending it under product liability defense. It's odd their lawyer is sending out releases, trying us in the court of public opinion. We've been making products for 21 years, with athletes like Scott Tinley and Scott Molina using them without fail. It's unfortunate. We've seen Tyler (Hamilton), all these athletes that will do or say anything to clear their name. With this there's no basis whatsoever."

Specific to Neben, Frank told Triathlete Magazine: "She also claims contamination, but they had 14 products tested, and all of them tested negative. That was one of the most tested teams in the U.S. We were supplying them through Mike [Engleman's] (U.S. Women's Cycling Development Program director and founder) women's development team, which was also the T-Mobile team, so not T-Mobile per se. But the funny thing is she tested positive at a race in Quebec. All her team-mates were tested and using the same product out of the same containers, and none of them tested positive."

Although, of the thousands of athletes using their products, how many are likely to be drug tested? Probably not many of them. Perhaps there are thousands of amateur athletes in North America flying due to some hormones inadvertantly ingested through their electrolyte supplement?

 has there been a increase of riders moving into experts while using the hammer products? :)

I started in the big bunch - the 30-39 year old guys for the classic. I got across to the road somewhere around the middle of the group, and my stopwatch said it was over 1min 30 sec before I was on and pedalling. It did seem much faster because I was so busy. Some guys are in no big hurry (since the clock's not ticking until you cross the mat, I guess) so it

Of course if I'd been thinking I would have started my stopwatch when I crossed the mat instead of when I picked up my bike to cross the river.

Is there an official line on whether your time starts from the mat or the horn?.

:pmob: I'm no official. But I've always been told that the timing starts on the gun, and the first mat is to clock everyone as being out on the course - so they can then be checked back in at the end.

To find out for sure send Michael an email michael.jacques@paradise.net.nz

Heres the official reply on Mat vs Gun from Michael Jacques.

"From when we said go... the mats are only for safety (seeing who comes out vs who went in, and confirming people who started in wrong start wave."
