There is legal singletrack between the turbine and Aro. I didn't say it went all the way. Why must people always assume the worst?

As an an old had at the running thing and turning to MTB riding only in the last year, I can vouch for the whole different muscles. Have had to build on my bike muscles and feel I have lost the running ones. Also found it hard trying to carry my bike comfortably.

Denton Park isn't legal, unfortunately.

My apologies, I don't really think of Car Parts as running down to Aro although you are right it is technically between Aro and the Wind Turbine. And I don't consider the Roller Coaster as single track. So I assumed you were talking about something else ;)

Ah. So THAT's what they were! I was wondering why people were carrying light batteries around!

Maybe I'll get one for next year (if I decide to enter..).

My nutritionist friend told me off for only drinking 1 litre of sports drink and half a leppin squeezie bottle on the whole Karapoti

Another half litre would have been good (specially as you really need a fair bit of liquid with the squeezies.

I had about 1.3l of replace, 350ml of coke and approx 2 squeezies.

Then a million pieces of b&e slice after :) (Gav got heaps of left overs from the food tent)

Did you have digestion issues? Did you cramp? If not then no, you didn't need anymore. An extra 1/2 litre would just be extra to carry. Stu only took 500ml for the whole race and he did ok. Think I sucked down about 800ml, and two squeeze packs (one to empty it so I could cover the gash in my tyres sidewall).

The Australian Institute of sport terms it 'functional dehydration.' They have determined most can lose approx 2kg in fluid before performance drops significantly. So if you can arrive at Dopers 2kg lighter then all good.

Key is then to replace the lose's ASAP once you've finished
