(lets not mention the fact that we started poorly, they outplayed us for the first 50 and we couldn't retain possession)

But lets all "stand up for the Phoenix" and Wellington football for doing a sterling job!

(far better than the hauraki village idiots who were kingz of precisely nothing)

I don't get this "aussie team - kiwi team" thing in regard to A-League: they'are ALL aussie teams, including Phoenix which just happens to be based in Welly. All the players have to be registered with FFA; Durante, McKain and Reddy are all Aussie reps (Reddy as a U-20, the other 2 as socceroos), Ferrante, Caceres, Lia, Crowther, Hearfield are all aussies as well. Muscat is a Malta international and Ifill plays for Barbados...

I'm an ex-Sydney boy living in Welly, my whole family cheers for Phoenix because it's a great "fighting underdog" team. All through the season I think they've played above themselves, many of the Sydney games I've watched they just looked lazy, especially their wingers who hardly ever seemed to chase the ball up the sideline to put in a cross. But last weekend, Phoenix were being outplayed and they lost by an honest goal as well as the dodgy one.

I have noticed though, aussie goalkeepers often bowl the ball along the ground with an underarm bowling action . . . .

Aussies are cheats in general though. Its not their fault, its to do with how they are raised and educated.

You don't but the refs do, marked bias (even factoring out my own marked bias) In saying that the bloke who reffed the Jets match was bloody good.

According to my nephew in law (Queenslander) they hate the NSW and Vic teams more than the 'Nix. But Queenslanders are a funny bunch.

Interesting, I hadnt factored that in. But it makes perfect sense.
