They should have used some Darcy Clay.

You take that back. Sailing Away is the best song ever written. Ever.
Barry Crump's "One people, on the land" line was a thing of beauty. I still have the 45 of that somewhere, I will cherish it until the day I die.

Sorry Conners, Barry Crump was a legend, so was Billy T, but the rest of the song was too "We Are The World"ish and that got played to death back in '85

Ha. Martin Sneddon reckons that the crowd will be singing it in the stands. Methinks he's dreaming.

We got free tickets to Sesqui, which was almost empty; I went on the Super Loop, which was almost empty. Some guy got put in the seat next to me. He said to me, 'Mate, hope I don't throw up.' Sure enough, we got upside down and ...

I hope RWC isn't like Sesqui. :hmmm:

Saw it on an ad on tv last night. If I hadn't heard anything about it before it would have gone completely un-noticed as just another ad. What was strange to me is that it was touted as 'rumoured' yesterday morning yet playing in prime time last night...

Martin Sneddon is probably right - it will become awash with the context of the RWC, the people who will be there are the big fans and will be right in the spirit of it singing along. I never liked a single Robbie Williams song but at the stadium during the rugby or the cricket got in to it along with everyone else.

barry crump was a wifebeating alcoholic arsehole. i guess a perfect folk-hero for RWC supporters, actually.

Hey, anyone got any suggestions for theme song for Singlespeed Worlds THIS October. No money to spend and Dave Dobbyn's already said no - otherwise all contenders will be considered (and mainly rejected to be honest)...
Oh, also must be Kiwi written and performed...

But that's rather appropriate considering the event in question. Don't you think? ;)
