I was riding with HVMBC members deep in the Akatarawa's while this was going down.

Didn't notice any boorish behaviour.

I also know some decent folk from the club... I guess in any group/club you end up with a percentage of munters. Possibly I overreacted - I just don't like being yelled at!!!

just to be devils advocate, don't mistake curtness with rudeness. when you come up to a slower rider the less you say the less you have to slow down before you warn them you are passing. But that guy sounded like an ass, if his brakes were not very good what would he have done if you were someone that had had an accident? ran you over?

"'Scuse us" followed by "Ta mate" is both curt and polite though, innit?

Sounds good to me :)

I’m with Colin – Dickheads are Dickheads – it’s not about geography or club.

I got yelled at when I passed some other roadies going up a hill last year :hmmm:
Jelly much

I prefer "on your right/left" followed by "thanks", it conveys useful info. "rider" is information free, unless you are worried about riderless bikes passing you.

should be the rider behind that gives way rather than the slower rider unless in a race..just like on the snow

Possibly this rude chap was still in race mode from the previous day.

We have all gotten a pass a bit wrong when passing a slower rider and come off like a dork.

Lets give the club less of a black eye and take a lesson from this unfortunate event and all be one together. ( now lets all sit around the campfire for a waiata )

And next time you see this guy , figuratively speaking of course, :sly: , throw a stick in his wheel from all of us
