Up the hill and down again, not a single problem with breathing other than my frankly abysmal hill fitness. I think the dual combo of antihistamine and inhaler makes things just all good!

I won't post my time up the hill cos it's embarrassingly slow. Suffice to say, I have a LOT of room for improvement
It's a gorgeous day out there today. Just perfect for riding! Hope tomorrow's as good.

rachelr wrote: heh yeah that's the problem I've got. Bloody annoying really - if it's too hot or too cold I'm screwed. It's playing up something chronic at the moment so I'm hypothesising that the pollen count atm is aggravating things - hence the trial with antihistamines today

I stay on antihistamines year around now - the pain and suffering isn't worth it (plus zyrtec takes a few days to cut in fully - thought I'm cheap and use the generic version 'razene' which is about 1/2 to 1/3 the cost depending where you buy it)

I'm terrible at remembering to carry an inhaler - only need it about 4 times a year, but when I do I need it bad (worst experience - being caught out an hours run from the car on a night winter solo trail run - scary)

next ride - when you get on the bottom of hackthorne rd and are in the gear you'd usually push up there seated, instead shift up 2-3 cogs (i.e. to smaller cogs / harder gears) and stand up - I'm betting you'll find that whilst your legs burn like crazy you'll go faster than you ever have up there AND your lungs won't be struggling

a couple of sudafed right before riding never goes amiss either :satan:

Best day for a ride for ages. Up to Sign of the Kiwi (no stop at the shops, go me!) along the Summit road and down in to Sumner. Heading down to the beach and two cats run out in front of me. With no time to react one of them is right under my front wheel, I hit it on the hip and it bounces off and has enough forward momentum to just keep running. I shat myself and I’ll bet the cat I’ll feel sore in the morning.

Coming back along the Causeway three cyclist were talking to a cop and an ambulance was pulling away. Could only see two bikes so not sure what happened.

Brilliant ride, still buzzing.

So where is Shortbays time measured from?

Bottom of Hackthorn/Dyers to bottom of Evans?

Bottom to safe distance past bottom to hit interval on Powertap. Paced myself quite well. Didn't do the big ring thing up Rapaki which gave me more go go juice for Evans. Good thing as it was quite windy up there. Ave speed was same as last time and one second slower but squeezed an extra 5 watts out (10 watts higher = 60-90sec faster in 40km TT).

yep - we used to stop the clock just after the big fast left hand sweeper at the bottom of evans (where it becomes wakefield ave).

have gone as low as 52 min for it, but these days it's more like 56 min - keep running out of determination/grunt up evans pass
