Re: Roadies - Where Did You Ride Today?

Another day of sitting around on my arse doing nothing, taking care of "sick" child. Sick child is perfectly well but not allowed to go back to school till tomorrow. Still, up on time, out the door at 5.45 for a 'haul the backside up the hill in the dark' ride. Managed to crack the 1 hour mark from home to the top again which is good, loved riding in the dark. Back via pekapeka to see me creep in home having racked up a solid 50km effort. Breakfast was extra good.

KCC tuesday night world champs at peka-peka. small break group these days seems to consist of junior and a few old men like me, but the even smaller scratch group consisting of Finn Brazier and a fast tandem caught us after 1 lap of 4. together we caught everyone else, though the groups slacked a bit on lap 3 and only caught the last group 1km out from the finish. Ended up third.

at least it shows I was off colour the first time I took the race bike out and got dropped on lap 3 :)

Sick child has reached the age of "I know you need to be here but other than that I won't acknowledge you." In fact the only time she really wanted to speak to me yesterday was to make demands about lunch, "Can I have this? Can I do that?, No, I think I want this instead....etc....somewhat inconveniently for me at precisely 12.51pm for about 2 minutes! I did try to interest her in doing stuff, but the online world is much more fun than interacting with a parent.

Met service forecasting crazy wind and a bit of rain, so I thought I'd take the day off and do the Country Road Classic course, Palmy up to Apiti via the hills and back home through Cheltenham.

Once I got into the hills the wind wasn't too bad. Theres some great climbs up there. Had a tailwind most of the way home from Apiti but the sidewinds on the road into Cheltenham almost had me in the ditch a few times. Stopped for an iced coffee in Cheltenham.
Feeling lazy so skipped the last bit of the ride up Valley rd.

Coming into palmy I was greeted by the rain, which washed a mixture of sunscreen and sweat into my mouth.

Now I'm going to put my feet up and read this months Tween magazine and play with my My Little Pony collection so I don't get out of touch with my girls. :p
