arggghh got ya! :) not being a 'local' in any sense of the word only just clicked...didn't make it down but kept up with it all via excellent updates from pure black and wheel works on face book. Almost as good as being there with the steam of photos and commentary.

You probably knew a whole lot more of what was happening than us up on the hill... lots of people going "how many laps to go?" and "who is leading?" etc. Great atmosphere, great day and great racing. Could have done with a PA system tuned to the radio commentary tho!!

And even if they were, they should look behind them to check that no vehicles are coming before they pull out. But of course they wouldn't, because roadies are far more important than anyone else.

and at 14kmh you turn and look....then a car doing 80kph comes around the corner.....at what point is looking not enough...and at what point is another road user coming from behind entitled to make the call that they where in his/her way so deserve to be abused?

Just saying...all is not always as we would have it seen....

On a road doing 14kph i can hear if a vehicle comes around a corner at 80kph behind me... especially going uphill.

The upper parts of Dyers Pass road it is silly to ride 2 abreast. A very busy winding road with basically not enough space for a vehicle to overtake a single cyclist in many places... I see sooo many cringe moments up there, from both cyclists and motorists :(

Roading riding the summit road is very nice, however having to go up Dyers pass road to get there is not so nice.
