Riding Mt Vic On Your Lunch Break?

Postby chewbacca on Mon 11/Sep/06 3:32pm

There are about 2-4 of us that regularly hit it around midday every day...

The crew is shrinking due to injuries/work/relocating...

Just wondering if there are other cats keen on a lunch-time blat?

Also if anyone is keen on some weekend riding...?

Weekend styles would be more like, the same Mt. Vic track/Mt Albert, or Long Gulley, Roller Coaster, Maidstone..?

Big crews are funnier...

Once I get my hands on a QR front wheel (next week or two), I would be keen to tag along.

lunch break times are flexible... I just have a email list that I send around in the morning to see who is keen...

I work down near the basin reserve... on Pirie street, (end of vivian becomes pirie and starts to head up mt vic.).

Working down this end of town is mint.

So yeah, there is a mix of hardtails/fullys we normally head up to the top carpark and have this sweet run that follows the ridge south to the soccer field... at the soccer field there is a range of drops... from the stair drop (where my mate just broke his collerbone!) to the infamous 9 footer... so any skill level.

So all sorts of cool shite (as far as Mt. Vic goes)...

We normally finish at the playground near the bus tunnell... all up about 30min + how long we play on the jumps?.

PM me your email address if you are keen to be included in the mailing list.

oh yeah and we are not really cross-country... more walk/push to the top and charge down.

Any one out there who is XC and wants to go at lunchtimes?

Definitely not a "charge down" type of girl but keen to ride
(and learn  )
(and be smug about living in Wellington :sly: )

If there's interest, maybe we can set something up.

I can be both.. but for lucntime rides would prob prefer XCish siftiness.... Will need to work out some shower facilities... but I have super flexible work hours... so I'm pretty keen.

We can be smug together :-)

ahah dodgy.:sly:

anywho - shower styles, if you don't have one at work it is a little more complicated.

You could always go ghetto and use the cold showers outside Freyberg's or you could cough up the coin and pay for a hot shower inside Freybergs?

The only other option I know of is the local gym's... all cost coin though.

Hmmm. I normally do the walk up/charge down, but I need to gain some cardio fitness from a bit of XC type riding. Now that I work in an organisation that has bike lockers & showers, I am definately keen for some XC type lunch time rides up Mt Vic (once I get a front wheel sorted).

Man.......why if a girl admits she is a girl , do all the dogdy calls suddenly come out.

Come on boys - Wellington men are classier than that - or at least the ones I will ride with :sly:

I thought you lot wanted more chicks on bikes ;)
